Lahcen El Bourkhissi was born in Morocco in 1997. After completing the high school studies, he entered the preparatory classes for engineering schools, an intensive program to enter the engineering schools in Morocco. Then, he joined the engineering program at the Hassania High School of Public Works in Casablanca between 2017 and 2019. In 2019-2020 he joined the Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology in France in a double degree program to obtain his Master’s Degree in electrical engineering.
Project description
The objective of Lahcen’s PhD position is to develop and use advanced learning and optimization techniques capable of addressing the control design of nonlinear systems. For such systems, the corresponding optimization-based MPC control problem is highly non-convex. The structure of such an MPC problem is very similar to that encountered in the training of deep learning networks. We plan to study the parameters of non-convex optimization algorithms for MPC using deep learning. In this PhD thesis we want to combine the best of these worlds, control, optimization and learning, to develop fast nonconvex optimization algorithms tailored for embedded MPC of smart industrial control systems (SICS).
